Prefer black and white drawings using ink pens, but also use colors from Japanese comic pens. Favorite themes: tragic stuff and violence. Favorite artists: CLAMP, Monet, Guayasamin……..

I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth but pawned it for a wide-angle lens.
My obsession with all things camera has poisoned my blood with the darkroom chemicals and up till now I’ve had nobody to appreciate it.

Several notes:

Firstly, I don’t try and convey any kind of profound point in my photography. Rather, I try to capture the things that interest me as I see the world pass.

Secondly I love my mother.

Thirdly, Cat totally rocks my socks off.

Fourthly, Neima can have my stereo.

Fifthly. Maggie is a good girl. Hi sweetheart.

She lives five blocks away from the beach and two blocks away from the park. The “N” is her neighborhood street car and it connects her to the whole city. At least as far as she has gone. She rides the “N” so often that it could be her second home, except it’s not. Cause then she doesn’t really like it when too many people get on, so she takes up both seats. One seat for her ass and the other for her feet. Unless the bus gets too crowed, then she has to give in and let someone else sit. It’s almost like her mind. She likes it when she’s got a few thoughts sitting in there, and a little more wouldn’t hurt. But when her mind is full and racing with thoughts, she has to give in.

Everywhere she goes, she carries a pen with her and her notebook is often by her side. Inside, it is filled with poems half started, random doodles and unfinished thoughts, phone numbers and some math notes for when she forgot her other notebook. So much has gone into her notebook that if she lost it, she’d lose a part of herself. Along with poetry, music and art flows through her veins. Her eyes see everything as a potential painting and her fingers move as if she were playing the cello while she waits for the bus to come.

Zai Divecha is a fifteen year old artist from Berkeley, California. She has
been doing art in some form or another for whole life, starting with finger,
foot and body painting when she was three. Today, Zai enjoys drawing,
painting, photography, metalwork and making silver jewelry among other
crafts. She cannot seem to commit herself to just one medium, so she
experiments with all kinds of possibilities. Zai draws inspiration from
pretty much anything that interests her–people, recent travels, other
artists or even television shows.

Zinmar always liked to doodle, but she never was very
inspired nor very artsy till she got an addiction for
anime. That was when she decided to try to draw
anime-style. She mostly just sketch and very, very
rarely (altogether about 4 of them) colors her
sketches. She uses color pencils to color because she
isn’t very good at coloring digitally (due to…no
practice at all) and color pencils are pretty AND
cheap. ^o^

Today, Zin still draws in anime-style, mainly because
she isn’t very good at drawing realistic people who
resemble humans. As for her family, they’re not very
artsy either, except for her talented aunt and uncle,
who paint and sketch at random times for fun. Lately,
she doesn’t have much time to doodle, so her poor
sketchbook shall remain untouched. =( I apologize that
Zin isn’t as creative as the other artists, but I hope
you liked looking at her doodles, anyway. =)

I started doing art long before art started doing me. I used to be able to
keep it under control, except when it controlled me. Sometimes the left
side of my brain is a gift-wrapped package to present as a present to the
present president. Unless he is too stupid to realize that art is a form of
expression only when expression is not a form of art. So I continued to
make art, until I reached a turning point; my doodles in pencil point were
turning into colorful drawings, paintings and photographs, except when they
are in black ad white.

I have been drawing ever since I could hold a pencil. For me drawing has always been a catharsis of sorts. One morning I will wake up and there will be an image bouncing around inside of my head and I get the feeling that I have to put it down on paper just to get it off of my mind so that I can move onto other things. My inspiration comes from my constant motivation to create things, to tap the create void so to speak. To take nothing, to take blank and empty space and to fill it with something of my own creations, to take that which isn’t and to fill it with that which is, that is my motive and my goal. I have worked in many different mediums and it is my plan to work in still more. My work is constantly expanding and taking on dimensions. That is one of the reasons that I love to draw, no two lines are ever the same and no two lines ever represent the same thing.
