Do I really become naive on my 15th birthday, Taylor?
Now, I know it isn’t actually Taylor Swift’s fault. She has handlers and producers and blah blah blah. I’m just a tad touchy. You see, I’m turning 15 very soon. Valentine’s Day, 2010. And somehow I don’t think that at the stroke of midnight I’ll be reduced into a simpering pile of naive angst. I know, it’s harsh. And certainly there have been fifteen year olds in the history of the world who have been manipulated into giving up their hym-oops, “everything they had”.
But why discriminate against the fifteen year olds? There have been sheltered girls and douchey guys since the dawn of time, of all ages. I am, as many people know, a firm anti-ageist/short teenager, and I really don’t approve of linking that kind of angst to my age. Thirty- year- olds act like this! I think I speak for most girls my age when I say I’m relatively mature and independent (or try), and don’t spend my high school days pining after senior boys.
Please, please, please, Ms.Swift. I get the story. I sympathize. But did you really have to give fifteen year old girls such a rep? I want to get more bad ass, not more gullible, as I age. That’s the idea, anyway.
I’ll report back whether I miraculously get my heart broken on V-day by a randomly passing guy. Who knows.
UPDATE
No comment on V-day, other than the complete lack of heartbreak. It was good times.

I would have NEVER guessed you were fourteen (now fifteen). You come off beyond your years.
