Like Sugar

by Wednesday, November 14th, 2007.

I’m mostly content
A cat sunning on a windowsill
Clichés, runny noses, and long-stemmed roses
around a green bench
and I’m sick in the park but
“I have always depended on the kindness of strangers.”
Streetcars, ferries, and *whipping* wind
The only way to go is up.
7-ounce cans and lemonade stands
I always get the side facing the parking lot.
I’m a: nail biter, scab picker, railing sitter
The theater is NOT a jungle gym.
Don’t drink and climb trees, kids.
Why don’t we get a flag for that pole?
Millions of red balloons lead to
a Hogwarts Express kind of kiss
laced with emerald ink.
Suede is sticky in a way…
DON’T SMILE, DON’T SMILE, I HATE THAT SMILE
The very model of a modern major general
Smells like wet dog
One of those white furry things will kill me someday.

A class conducted wholly in past tense
Shoddy construction
Garment, garden, garter
tap your foot
twiddle your thumbs
stare at your fingers.
Pink Hat, you look like a flapper. Maybe you want to.
Must you always rebel, even when writing your name? What’s your cause, rebel?
Are you such a huge Giants fan that even your drink must be orange?
Does “fat paranoia” make women fat?
How much sugar was in my tea?
Is everyone’s life deserving of a biography?
Ex-per-teez, tees, teas, tease
when something is left to the imagination
Smoke and mirrors, mystique.
